The Purdue University Research Center in Economics (PURCE) is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2023! This final monthly economic policy luncheon of the academic school year is offered in conjunction with the Daniels School’s annual alumni conference.

John Umbeck is a celebrated Purdue business school economics professor, public speaker, and researcher who co-founded the school’s Purdue University Research Center in Economics 10 years ago.
He will discuss his motivation for creating an economics center for the study of government regulations and explain how the science of economics provides us with a unique set of tools that yields valuable insights into the effects of regulations, many of them unexpected, some beneficial, some not. Umbeck will discuss how, with the help of several people, including Purdue President Emeritus Mitch Daniels, PURCE was created.
