The four-week Fall 2023 online session of the Certificate of Foundations in College Teaching runs Monday, Oct 16, through Friday, Nov 10., and is open to all Purdue West Lafayette faculty/graduate students/postdocs/staff, Purdue Polytechnic Statewide, and Purdue Global faculty/instructors/staff. Register here by Fri., Sept. 29. We can accept the first 80 registrants.

The Certificate of Foundations in College Teaching Program is one of two certificate programs offered by the Center for Instructional Excellence (CIE). It provides an overview of evidence-based teaching practices and strategies. There will be no synchronous meetings, but participants are expected to engage with and respond to and engage with others on discussion boards and submit weekly reflections. Participants should plan to devote approximately three hours during each week of the program.

Foundations covers central topics in college teaching and asks participants to reflect on concepts, experiences, and applications at the end of each topic. Core topics include:

  • Making Learning Accessible
  • Assessing Student Learning
  • Creating a Learner-Centered Environment
  • Applying the Science of Teaching and Learning

Questions about the Certificate of Foundations in College Teaching Program may be emailed to Leslie A. Miller at teachercertificate@purdue.edu.
