About this Event
Join the Purdue Women’s Network for the November installment of our virtual Cocktails and Conversation series, featuring Erika Kvam and Kirstin Gotway, curators for Purdue University Galleries.
During “Curating Degas: Women’s Perspective on Art and Alumni Legacies,” Kvam and Gotway will discuss the Degas Collection at Purdue, a gallery of 74 bronze sculptures by the French impressionist Edgar Degas.
Kvam received her master’s degree in art gallery and museum studies at the University of Manchester. Kvam began working with Purdue Galleries in 2015, eventually becoming the director and head curator. She has generated the largest grant and the largest gift in the galleries’ history.
Gotway has more than 12 years of museum experience and has worked with the collections of the Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Museum of Art at Indiana University, Krannert Art Museum at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields. She joined Purdue Galleries in 2023 as the inaugural curator of the permanent collection funded by the Henry Luce Foundation.
