Join us for the Purdue HTM Service and Experience Innovations Symposium, featuring Dr. Bruce Tracey, Kenneth and Marjorie Blanchard Professor of Human Resource Management at Cornell University’s Nolan School of Hotel Administration at the SC Johnson College of Business.

Presentation Title:  Theory or Contingency – The Case of Hospitality Research

Abstract:
Hospitality research is typically grounded in disciplinary explanations to examine phenomena that are salient, endemic, and in some cases, unique to service- and labor-intensive work settings. This presentation will examine the ways in which scholars have applied theory to understand hospitality phenomena and then discuss some emerging evidence that points to a shift in the way current models, frameworks, and theories may evolve and offer a more informed lens for advancing hospitality research.
