Toby Moskowitz will discuss the current landscape of the rapidly growing prediction and sports betting markets. Drawing upon his latest research, he’ll show how the behavior of market participants is similar in both markets, and similar to that of financial markets. Asset pricing implications of this behavior are consistent across prediction, sports, and financial markets, including stock, bond, currency, commodity, and even private equity markets. Moskowitz will also discuss some of the impediments and differences across these markets that may distort these connections and what policies might be forthcoming to mitigate or exacerbate them.

Moskowitz is a Daniels School Distinguished Fellow and the Dean Takahashi Chaired Professor of Finance and Economics at Yale University. His research focuses on financial economics, with an emphasis on asset pricing and investment management. Along with David Swensen, the CIO of the Yale endowment, he co-founded the master’s program in Asset Management at Yale. He has also written about sports analytics and sports betting, including the New York Times best-seller Scorecasting.

Space is limited for our luncheons, and registration is required. Please register by noon on Friday, January 23. We look forward to seeing you in Rawls Hall for a catered lunch, networking, and a Q&A with Moskowitz following his talk.
