The Purdue University Research Center in Economics (PURCE) is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2023! We invite you to join us for networking, a catered lunch, a faculty research presentation, and a Q&A on January 25.
Dr. Hedlund is new to Purdue and comes to us from the University of Missouri. He served as the Chief Domestic Economist and Senior Adviser on the Council of Economic Advisers during 2020-21. His research focuses primarily on the intersection of real estate, finance, and macroeconomics. He is a faculty member in the business school’s Dean V. White Real Estate Finance Program.
Hedlund will speak about the economic policymaking process in the White House, touching upon the different dimensions of economic policymaking, the role played by rigorous analysis, and the various stakeholders that can shape the process and final outcomes.
Given the unique economic circumstances brought about by the arrival of the pandemic in 2020, his talk will also feature personal insights into the behind-the-scenes deliberations that went into both the crafting and implementation of the early rescue packages aimed at mitigating the economic damage from the pandemic.
RESESRVATIONS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND. Please RSVP by January 23.
Parking is available in the nearby Grant Street Parking Garage, and we’re happy to provide a parking pass at check-in upon request.
Reach out to us with any questions at purce@purdue.edu and (765) 494-3782.
