DESCRIPTION:Emel Filiz-Ozbay is a Professor of Economics at the University
of Maryland with research interests in behavioral economics\, experimental
economics\, and market design. Her work explores how individuals make dec
isions in strategic and social contexts\, particularly\nwhen uncertainty o
r fairness concerns influence behavior.\n\n \n\nHer presentation will focu
s on her recent paper\, “Stochastic Choices in Giving: Theories and\nExp
eriments\,” which explores why individuals prefer to randomize their dec
isions in social settings. The paper investigates how people balance fairn
ess\, responsibility\, and moral uncertainty when determining how much to
give. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of stochastic de
cision-making and its implications for theories of social preferences and
 behavioral economics
