Dr. Simon Harrer is co-founder and CEO of Entropy Data, a company building a data marketplace powered by data products and contracts. He brings his deep experience in software engineering to the world of data, advocating for robust, contract-first approaches. Abstract:
What if data governance helped your organization move faster instead of slowing it down? Imagine asking, “Who are our top customers?” and getting an answer in seconds — without SQL, support tickets or delays. Just a direct conversation with enterprise data that is fully governed and audit-ready.
This system allows users to query enterprise data using natural language while automatically enforcing data contracts, privacy policies and access controls in real time. AI agents powered by the Model Context Protocol discover relevant data products, request purpose-based access, validate queries against data contracts and execute results — all within a single interaction.
At the core is purpose-based governance. Each query is evaluated against its stated business purpose before it runs. Attempts to use customer data for unauthorized marketing are blocked. Approved requests, such as analyzing support trends, are granted immediately.
Join us to learn how effective data governance can shift from a compliance requirement to a strategic advantage — one conversation at a time. This session is part of the Spring 2026 Online AI Capstone Virtual Speaker Series hosted by the Purdue University Online Capstone Experience.
