Part One: Introduction to Animatronics

In this session, you'll embark on an exhilarating journey through the realm of animatronics. From its origins in the film industry to its diverse applications in theme parks and medicine, we'll cover it all. Get ready to delve into the rich history, current trends, and the fundamentals of animatronic design. Plus, you'll have the exciting opportunity to get hands-on experience with sample animatronics and mechanisms. By the end of this session, you'll be equipped with the knowledge needed for the practical application in part two of the series.
Part Two: Build Your Own Animatronic
April 9 | 5:00–6:30 PM | in the Knowledge Lab, WALC 3007
It's time to roll up your sleeves and bring your creativity to life. You'll have the chance to assemble a pre-printed animatronic mechanism inspired by the intricate movements of a Praying Mantis, infused with a touch of Sci-Fi flair. With the guidance of our expert instructors, you will add servos and a control mechanism to bring your creation to life in a two-axis animatronic.
